Meet Kris, Designer and Founder of KCA Design.

“Life is a gamble and I’m all about my poker chips…” shared a charmingly cunning Kris Cormier when asked what her battle cry would be. Naturally, the artist quoted Lil Wayne… “I’m all about taking risks and pushing past the status quo.” As founder and designer of KCA Design, we must say that Cormier is anything but status quo…

With over ten years of hands on experience in the luxury space of fashion and interior design, Cormier over time, developed her knack for business and a true love of sketching and calligraphy. What started as merely a hobby and over time quickly transformed into an idyllic career. Fast forward a few years of putting pen to paper and KCA Design became a reality. “I’ve always had the end goal of running my own business so decided to take the leap.” And leap she did…

Cormier launched her moniker brand in late 2017 and she has been in non-stop high demand ever since. Offering calligraphy, illustrations and hand painting services, KCA Design has certainly had everyone buzzing with excitement since day one. Her brand attracts top-tier clientele ranging from fellow designers, celebs, glossy boutiques and other notable names. Unfortunately for us, Cormier keeps discretion a top priority; however, rest assured, you can spot her signature pieces festooned on the arm candy traipsing about town. “I recently did a really fun octopus on an oversized vintage Louis Vuitton clutch.” In fact, Cormier said that one of the top requests she receives is to sketch on a LV Neverfull Bag.

A purveyor of all things style, Cormier actually uses the skills crafted from her fashion background to design unique and swoon-worthy illustrations. “I have a bit more of a quirky design style of my own; but have to be flexible in my work to adapt to a client’s needs,” shares Cormier. “I, of course, LOVE when clients give me tons of creative license to do what I think is best for the piece.” Seeking inspiration from trips, films, wallpaper spotted at a restaurant…you name it… this creative tour de force is always on the lookout for something special. And this is evident upon poring through her carefully crafted pieces. Sketching on candles, books, handbags, canvases and clothes, she doesn’t shy away from anything…except stripes. “I have strong feelings about painting stripes…I just don’t want to!” enthuses Cormier.

What does Cormier have in her back pocket (of some oh so chic skinny jeans no doubt…)? The fashion plate has a few upcoming collaborations with noteworthy labels, trunk shows, photo shoots for luxe publications and some other secret things stashed for the future…

A little lighting round to kick things off…

A fun fact not many people know about you… Most people assume with what I do, especially since I do so many events with the public that I am very social and outgoing. I am actually extremely introverted and shy; I love paining at my studio and sometimes don’t leave or see anyone for days at a time!

Vice… Buying shoes

Favorite hobbies… I adore Pilates and doing restorative yoga. It is one of the only things that really helps me unwind (which is saying a lot).

Favorite recent adventure… I just went to Aspen for a grand opening event for FRAME denim; it was so gorgeous, and I absolutely love working with them, so it was a fantastic weekend. I love traveling for work – events are a lot of the reason I love what I do, and it gives me a chance to get out of the studio and meet clients in person.

Favorite designers… My taste can be a little all over the place, but I am a huge Chanel girl (mostly bags), Libertine, McQueen, The Row and Gucci.

Fashion accessories… Celine sunnies…always…

A place on your bucket list… I am dying to go to Tokyo (and am planning a trip for next year), and beyond that I would love to go on a safari and also to Marrakesh…I hear amazing things!

It’s happy hour…what are we toasting with… Champagne (preferably with oysters)
